A string of keys to a happy new home with pink, yellow and purple flower petals. This was made possible with an experienced conveyancer at Abbotts and Co Lawyers.

Conveyancing

Our homes are not just bricks and mortar, rather they are the physical extensions of our personality, they hold our most cherished memories, and provide us with security from all the storms of life. For most people they are also the biggest financial investment of their lives.

Conveyancing is a big word used to describe a simple concept. It’s about transferring the ownership of property from one person to another (from a seller to a buyer).

We understand that buying or selling ‘your castle’ comes with a large amount of stress and uncertainty.

We aim to be your personal guides through this chapter, walking you through the entire process, answering all your questions, and seeing you through to the next exciting chapter of life.

THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS

Is it better to use a solicitor or conveyancer for my Conveyancing?

While we know a lot of bloody good conveyancers, there are key differences between using a solicitor over a conveyancer for buying or selling.

The key difference between a conveyancer and a lawyer is that a lawyer undergoes significantly longer and more detailed legal training. We sometimes think of Conveyancers and Lawyers a bit like the dental hygienist and dentist. The hygienist is fine enough for your routine check-up and clean, but when the chips are down you probably want the dentist to be holding the drill for the root canal.

Abbotts and Co. Lawyers are Conveyancing heroes

At Abbotts and Co we pride ourselves on providing prompt and personalised conveyancing service, all for a reasonable fixed fee. And because we want our clients to have the champaign property experience for a beer budget, we make sure our fees are on par with average conveyancer fees.

Our simplified conveyancing process:

  1. Consultation and Planning - We take the time to get to know your unique needs and circumstances.

  2. Preparing and negotiating the contract through to exchange.

  3. Ongoing communication to ensure smooth sailing.

  4. Celebrating with you on settlement day.

What to do before auction day

Before excitedly throwing your hand in the air at an auction you need to make sure you really know what you are bidding on. The big difference with an auction is that if you are successful, you will automatically be locked into the contract, without the standard cooling off period.

With that in mind we strongly suggest our clients speak to us before the big day to have the contract professionally reviewed. This will ensure that you turn up well informed and confident in your decision.

Other property law matters we can assist with

  • Property Transfers (between couples and co-owners);

  • Easements and Boundary issues;

  • Adverse Possession claims;

  • Native Title Claim;

  • Notice of Death – Removing a deceased person (a joint owner) from a house deed.
