Will Alignment Program.

At Abbotts and Co Lawyers, we love nothing more than taking things off our clients’ busy plate. We also love providing peace of mind that their estate planning is ‘on point’. It is this mindset which led us to develop our ‘Will Alignment’ Program.

Solicitor Kieran Abbotts with an old wheel that he plans to renovate.

Life rolls on; some years are smooth six-lane highways, while others are dirt lanes riddled with unforgiving potholes. At Abbotts & Co Lawyers, we know there is nothing more certain and permanent as change.

With that in mind we believe it's essential for your estate planning documents (Wills, Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardianships) to be regularly reviewed to ensure they remain fit for purpose.

Through our experience we have observed that most people sign their estate planning documents, then hide them in a drawer, never to be thought of again. We get it, life gets busy and future problems take a backseat to the worries and demands of today.

Such an approach leaves your estate vulnerable to disputes once you have passed away. Knowing how much a life can change in one single year – (from new children being born, deaths in the family and the breakdown of both friendships and relationships) we always gasp when we see people leave behind decades old wills.

How the Will Alignment works.

To keep you on track with your Estate Planning we will:

  • Keep your original Will and other estate planning safe in both the physical and digital Abbotts and Co Lawyers Vault. We can also hold other important documents which you wish to keep safe.

  • As requested, provide you with physical and digital copies of your important documents.

  • On every anniversary of your will being signed our experienced lawyers will review your documents and make note of any concerns.

  • Following our review we will contact the client, reminding them to review their will in light of any changes or new developments and discuss any red flags we see possibly arising in their estate.

  • The communication with the client will be carefully documented to ensure that it may be relied upon should a dispute ever arise in the future as part of that person’s estate.

  • Where updates to estate planning documents are required, we will provide the client with loyalty discounts.

  • Upon your passing we will provide your executors and wider family with a free initial consultation to support and guide them through the difficult period. We can also provide them with any other personal letters you have left behind.
